Thursday, another trip to France for a long weekend break, started as usual at the Halfmoon Cafe.
On this trip Tim, Marina, Norm, Geoff, Chris, Ginge, and myself Carol. The Condor was one hour late!! sailing but never mind it's nice to get off the rock and have a decent ride without having to watch your speed all the time. We stopped for our usual break to stretch our legs and have a fag for those who got bad habits, as we had been riding for a long time, a chap came and asked Tim for some Rizla paper then came out a lump of black and offered us some, "but we all declined" then he offered some drink out of a bottle covered by a brown bag we said No thank you. We carried on our way, then came upon a stream of traffic there had been nasty accident, and there was a car on it's roof. We eventuality got to our Ibis in Angers just after 21:00 hrs ,dropped the luggage and went for something to eat and of course some light refreshment (ha-ha) about 02-00hrs we rolled to the rooms for a good night sleep, but as you know there is always one, Chris got up to check on the bikes they were fine but Chris wasn't he did not have any shoes on and shut himself out the room and had to get the receptionist to give him another card to get back in the room. Friday The following day we were making for La Rochelle, on the way we called in to see their H-D dealership, was not over impressed, "they had downsized" not so much as last time others had visited it, and no cafe anymore. I found it was smaller than somewhere like Dockgate 20 or Bridgwater. We carried on and reached the Ibis in La Rochelle about 16:00, plenty of things going on, market stalls and entertainment loads of people around some sitting out drinking enjoying the weather as it was beautiful and sunny day which makes all the difference, had our meal then found this Irish pub it had a couple of chaps singing and playing guitars.
Saturday, Made our way to Oradour-Sur-Glane, very sad and emotional place been once don't think I want to go there again some of the others have been before but took us to see it. The weather was really boiling hot, we were on our way to Limoges stayed at another Ibis, the places we stayed were all very clean and lovely rooms the breakfasts were very good as well.
Sunday, Left Limoges after breakfast the weather was cloudy and cool nice for riding as we were going though Pottiers we stopped for a coffee but ended up with a nice light lunch.
Carried on our journey as we were heading for Saumur this time we stayed in an Kyrid Hotel very nice air-con the works! T V which we could get English on to find out who had won the Grand Prix that day. That evening we had Chinese meal very nice but very slow service had to eat it as it came to the table as it would be cold before the next dish was out.
Monday, Left Saumur and headed for Port Louis stopped for lunch but could only get baguette and frittes as everywhere was closed as we had arrived to late.Headed off for St Malo on the way went into the Carrefour for a chocolate fix for Tim, then down to the boat did not have long to wait as the boat was in good crossing back. Good time had by all........ Carol.
